STAND UP! THE COURAGE TO CARE

A great resource for kids to counteract the widespread rise of bullying.
—John W. Travis, MD, MPH, co-author, Wellness Workbook

Stand Up! The Courage to Care is a must read for young children. It is never too early to build self-esteem and confidence in our children and to empower them with the skills to protect them from being bullied, or from bullying. Whether you read this book with your child, or let him/her read it alone, it provides a great stimulus for open conversation.
—Theresa Landau, MS, RD, CDN, CLC; WIC Director, Morrisania, NY

The right combination of beautiful illustrations, imaginative images and simple messages to engage young children and increase their strength and resilience without prematurely appealing to intellect by applying adult interpretations to life. Let the images work their own magic! Trust the wellsprings of strength and idealism that lie within your young child.
—Rahima Baldwin Dancy, author, You Are Your Child’s First Teacher

READY TO WEAN

I felt the time to wean was approaching when my son was about 1 year and 10 months old.  I knew that our weaning experience had to be just as wonderful as our breastfeeding experience...  Who knew the answer would be in the wonderful children's book "Ready to Wean".  We prepared for the big day, weaning at 2.  My smart boy, of course, would say he was turning any age accept 2 because he knew what would happen.  One month after his second birthday he was ready to wean, and from that day forward he started saying he was 2.
—Maira A. Campillo, RD, CLEC, Education & Training Coordinator, WIC
